RICHARD WILDE on Refueling: Putting Myself Back Into My Work
On Tuesday, October 6th, please join us for a celebratory start to the SPD Speaker Series season as we welcome Richard Wilde, Chair of the Advertising and Graphic Design Department at SVA for "Refueling: Putting Myself Back Into My Work." Shortly before the opening of "The Wilde Bunch" on October 9th celebrating his 40 years shaping the visual culture at SVA, Richard takes time to talk with us about the nature of work, and being a creative soul.
As Richard says,
This talk will address the idea that we have two natures. One that is acquired and one that is inborn. Oft times, in the course of our careers we lose sight of our essential nature and our work becomes more mechanically driven and we lose sight of our original goal of being an artist. The question is, How do I make my work my vital, which will give meaning to my life?
